Michael Parker named Eggleston’s 2006 Associate of the Year

Michael Parker was named Eggleston’s Associate of the Year during the 2006 Annual Meeting and Board of Directors meeting held on October 26TH. Board members, Eggleston staff, and Michael’s friends and family members applauded as Michael was presented with a certificate of recognition, and a check for $100.

Michael began attending the day program at Civitan Acres a little more than a year ago. He has also been through many life changing events during this time including the loss of a parent, and moving from the home he grew up in into a residential facility. Through it all, Michael showed great strength and arrived each day at Civitan with a smile on his face, ready to participate in whatever each new day brought him.

Civitan Acres staff members have noticed that Michael has increased his communication skills, and is becoming much more social. He has also improved his fine motor skills and now enjoys participating in arts and crafts.

Michael’s new goal is to receive a motorized wheelchair that will allow him to move freely without the assistance of anyone.
