Program Outline/Employment and Training Services

Today’s work environment requires technical skills and knowledge. Furthermore, in addition to the skills and knowledge required employees must have a strong work ethic and a positive work attitude to succeed. The nature of the workplace is constantly changing. Both those preparing to start a career and those having to adjust have expressed concerns about the future job market. The stable and secure positions of yesterday have disappeared. Today’s employee’s success depends upon understanding both what the employer expects and the changing nature of jobs and careers. Employers say they are looking for employees who are independent decision-makers, self-managed learners, and who have a positive work attitude. Their education needs to include computer literacy, communication, time management, and interpersonal skills. Additionally, employees need to be flexible and dependable.
