In a project 11 years in the making, Eggleston was finally awarded a government contract to process linen for the Army at Fort Eustis, Fort Monroe & Fort Story. After an extended relationship with the laundry at the VA Hospital in Richmond, The Army decided to outsource the work, utilize the JWOD Act, and create job opportunities in one motion.
The service began February 1st, 2005 with an expectation of processing about half a million pounds of laundry per year. This is expected to not only create job opportunities for people with disabilities, but may generate up to $250,000 a year in revenue for the corporation. Eggleston’s laundry has been operating since 1992 and has done Army laundry work for Fort Lee for the past three years.
