At the conclusion of a daylong training for managers from throughout the country the Amerigroup associates travelled to Eggleston for a chicken dinner and tour of Eggleston s facility on Military Highway. Volunteers helped our employees pack peanut brittle boxes for Old Dominion Peanut Company. Virginia Beach based Amerigroup is a health insurance company focused exclusively on meeting the needs of persons enrolled in publicly-funded healthcare programs. Amerigroup serves as a private-sector partner in 11 states, managing healthcare programs for lower-income families and people with disabilities. <p class="bodycontent"> <h2>Eggleston receives $15,000 donation from Norfolk Church</h2> <p class="bodycontent"><img src="images/news_images/goodwin2.bmp" alt="Goodwin" name="imageright" width="183" height="140" align="left" id="imageleft" />Congregation members of Faith Wesleyan Church in Norfolk presented Eggleston with a check for $15,000 during the opening ceremony for Eggleston s newest facility on Military Highway. The facility employs workers with disabilities who perform document scanning, shredding, embroidery and other tasks.<p class="bodycontent">  Eggleston has been very important to the community for many years helping people with disabilities. We wanted to help them continue the good work said church member LP Goodwin.<p class="bodycontent"> Eggleston President/CEO Paul Atkinson said,  We are grateful for this support from Faith Wesleyan Church and the funds will help us meet the increasing demand for disability related services in Hampton Roads . <p class="bodycontent"> </p> <h2>Eggleston Shredding achieves AAA certification</h2> <p class="bodycontent"><img src="images/news_images/naidlogo.jpg" alt="NAID" name="imageright" width="116" height="118" align="left" id="imageleft" />The National Association of Information Destruction (NAID) has awarded Eggleston its AAA certification for its document shredding operations.<p class="bodycontent"></align> The designation recognizes the highest possible security certification in the information destruction industry. This certification, determined by the NAID, requires that Eggleston complete a rigid, 26-step analysis of its security procedures and is audited (randomly and unannounced) throughout the year.<p class="bodycontent"> NAID is the international trade association for companies providing information destruction services. NAID s mission is to promote the information destruction industry and establish the standards and ethics of its member companies.<p class="bodycontent"> The NAID Certification Program establishes standards for a secure destruction process including such areas as operational security, employee hiring and screening, the destruction process, responsible disposal and insurance. </p> <h2>Navy Volunteers help Eggleston renovate new location</h2> <p class="bodycontent"><img src="images/news_images/paintthumb.jpg" alt="Navy Volunteers help renovate" name="imageright" width="176" height="152" align="left" id="imageleft" />Volunteers from the U.S. Navy Commander Second Fleet helped Eggleston with renovations as part of National Disability Employment Awareness Month.<p class="bodycontent"></align> The volunteers finished about 85 percent of the interior paint priming in the 13,000 square foot work space at Military Highway, using over 30 gallons of paint. The efforts were coordinated by LN1 Patrice Washington, who had learned about NISH and was anxious to find and help a local organization that assisted people with disabilities.<p class="bodycontent"> "This was an opportunity to do something great for an organization that does so much to help people with disabilities," said Senior Chief Fire Controlman (SW) Will Grimm. "It feels good knowing that our improvements will make a huge difference in the lives of those that work there."<p class="bodycontent"> Volunteers included Krystal Simons, Alejandro Ubiera, Carlos Watson, William Hayes, L.A. Lopez, AG3 Baker, Diana Stacy, Jesus Garcia, James Green, William Grimm, Jason Hirsch, Michael Lee, Jeremy Centeno, Andrew Boyance, Terrell McClain, Kyle Newman, Eric Garst, Christopher Jackson, Ryan Quick, Edith Harrison and Tamisha Townsend. </p> <h2>Eggleston Services receives $150,000 Grant from the Hampton Roads Community Foundation</h2> <p class="bodycontent">The grant will help build a new Eggleston facility on Military Highway in Norfolk that will provide jobs for people with disabilities. The four-acre property at the site of the former Conoly Phillips Lincoln Mercury auto dealership includes three buildings that will house Eggleston s mail processing, document conversion and shredding services as well as its custom embroidery service. The expansion, which should be complete in 2011, will provide up to 100 jobs for disabled workers.</p> <p class="bodyspace">&nbsp;</p> <p class="bodycontent">The Hampton Roads Community Foundation grant will help renovate the buildings for people with physical and intellectual disabilities. The buildings will feature natural lighting, work spaces that accommodate wheel chairs and modified bathrooms.</p> <p class="bodyspace">&nbsp;</p> <p class="bodycontent">The new center will offer  challenging and stimulating work that a wide variety of our employees can do and work which offers them personal growth and a career path in some instances, says Paul Atkinson, Eggleston CEO.
