ALFRED MIDGETT JOINS EGGLESTON SERVICES BOARD OF DIRECTORS
NORFOLK, Va. – Eggleston Services, a not-for-profit organization that provides job training and work opportunities for persons with disabilities, has added Alfred Midgett to its board of directors as a Lead Hampton Roads Board Partner.
Midgett is a regional manager with WaterFurnace International and is the Virginia Beach resident who formed the Robin Hoods of Virginia Beach, a local charitable club known for performing noble deeds in Hampton Roads over the last ten years.
“Al is a great example of a local citizen giving of himself in order to help others,” says Paul Atkinson, CEO of Eggleston Services. “We appreciate his enthusiasm and dedication and look forward to his participation on Eggleston’s board.”
The Lead Hampton Roads program is an innovative leadership development program developed by the Hampton Roads Chamber foundation. The program’s purpose is to match active, well-informed and skilled business leaders with local charitable organizations.
Eggleston Services was created in 1955 and supports the growth, development, and independence of people with disabilities through education, rehabilitation programs and work opportunities. Over the last 50 years, Eggleston Services has grown from a five-person operation in 1955 to an organization that benefits more than 600 people. Eggleston Services operates a number of business units including secure document destruction, business fulfillment services, custodial and landscaping services, food service, an auto donation unit, laundry services and a retail nursery.

EGGLETON SERVICES OPENS SECURE DOCUMENT DESTRUCTION BUSINESS
New business line to employ up to 20 people with disabilities in Hampton Roads
NORFOLK, Va. – Eggleston Services, a not-for-profit organization that provides job training and work opportunities for people with disabilities, has opened a new business unit specializing in secure document shredding and recycling services. Eggleston Document Destruction will serve businesses throughout the Hampton Roads region and work begins immediately on a regional contract for shredding and document destruction for a significant federal government agency.
Eggleston launched the business in response to customer demand for secure document destruction. Eggleston Document Destruction meets or exceeds industry standards established by the National Association of Information Destruction, which is particularly important for customers that must meet strict laws and regulations that protect privacy.
It is expected that the new business unit will initially provide 10-20 new jobs to people with disabilities. “We are excited about this new employment opportunity for the people we serve and as an additional service line we can offer businesses in the region,” says Paul Atkinson, CEO of Eggleston Services.” Eggleston Services was created in 1955 to support the growth, development, and independence of people with disabilities through education, rehabilitation programs and work opportunities. Holiday Trees Arriving at Tanners Creek Retail Center
If you’re one of those folks who likes to put up your holiday decorations in time for Thanksgiving, then we have some exciting news for you:
SIX HUNDRED freshly cut holiday trees will be arriving at the new Tanners Creek Retail Center on Monday, November 21 ST!
FRESH trees are the best and in response to the public’s requests at last year’s sale, we have increased the number of LARGE trees available for sale this year.
Prices will range from about $35.99 for smaller trees, up to $129.99 for the REALLY BIG ones – between 8 and 12 feet tall! Holiday wreaths and rope garland will be on sale, as well.
The Retail Center will be open from 10:00 – 6:00 on November 25 TH (day after Thanksgiving) and will also begin their new holiday hours that day, as follows:
Monday – Friday 11:00 – 7:00
Saturdays 10:00 – 8:00
Sundays 12:00 – 6:00
Folks are encouraged to come shop early for the best selection! The Tanners Creek Retail Center is located at 110 LaValette Avenue, at the intersection of LaValette Avenue and 38 TH Street in Norfolk, and their phone number is 625-2044.
