Tanners Creek Horticultural Services, opened in 1999, provides education, training and employment opportunities in plant propagation, greenhouse management, grounds maintenance, landscaping and retail sales. Tanners Creek Horticultural Services represents the shared vision of both Eggleston Services and the Virginia Zoological Society creating "horticulturally" focused employment and training opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
Our Horticultural training Facility and greenhouses are located next to the Virginia Zoological Park and our retail sales location is located in the Historic Riverview section of Norfolk, less than a mile from the horticultural center. While our associates benefit from the therapeutic effect of working with plants and the training opportunities associated with the activities Tanners Creek provides, the community benefits from the quality garden products sold at our Garden Center in Riverview and the superior service provided by our landscaping crews. Everyone is a winner at Tanners Creek Horticultural Services.
Honors go to Tanners Creek Horticultural Services
On June 23, 2006, Tanners Creek Horticultural Services was awarded the Clean Business Award by the Norfolk Environmental Commission during an outdoor ceremony at the Ernie Morgan Environmental Center attended by business leaders, citizens, local civic leagues and the Honorable Mayor, Paul Fraim and hosted by Bob Batcher of "Perspectives". Other business and organization winners were, Jumping' G's, Riverview Business Associaton, Town Point Park Recycling Initiative, Workflow One, Envirowalkers, Hampton Roads Rowing Club, The Hermitage Foundation, NOAA Maritime Operations Center.
Tanners Creek Horticultural Services was also honored by the Virginian Pilot with the Bronze Readers Choice award for Best Garden Center in May 2006!
