Eggleston has been providing Food Service Workers for the military in the Tidewater since 1990. We are currently seeking applicants for a full time Food Service Supervisor at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth to be available to work Sunday thru Saturday a rotating schedule 4:30 am and 7:00 pm-with the ability to be flexible which includes working weekends, holidays and during inclement weather.
Essential duties include managing day to day operations; managing inventory ;oversee storage; equipment inspection; ensuring compliance with contract requirements, including standards for quality, cleanliness, and workplace safety; training and supervising employees who prep food, serve food, wash dishes, and perform janitorial duties; understand FIFO and HACCP logs; completing required documentation, approving time sheets, evaluating and documenting performance, and maintaining positive relationships with customers. A condition of continued employment will require the supervisor to periodically obtain Serve Safe certification every three(3) years which usually involves overnight travel out of the area.
Qualified applicants must have a minimum of 5 years’experience in Government/ Commercial food service environment to include 3 years of supervisory experience. Qualified applicant must have the ability to provide excellent customer service, possess a firm understanding of inventory control. Must have reliable transportation especially during periods of inclement weather. Must be punctual, well groomed, and will be required to follow Site Manager’s instructions. Have the physical stamina to work in a commercial galley/kitchen environment in elevated ambient temperatures; be able to stand for at least four hours and lift at least 50 lbs; be able to train and supervise food service workers with disabilities; and be able to demonstrate proficiency of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and/or Outlook). Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English. Pre-Employment drug testing, acceptable driving record and clearance through a stringent criminal background security check/investigation to access military installation required.
