Food Service Worker – Norfolk Naval Station Galley-PT-Morning Shift- Norfolk-Enjoy a rewarding and challenging position with a nonprofit organization that has been helping educate, train and provide employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities since 1955. Eggleston has been providing Food Service for the military in the Tidewater area since 1990. We are currently seeking applicants for a part time Food Service Worker at Norfolk Naval Station for the morning shift, 5:30am-1:30pm weekdsays; 7:30am-1:30pm weekends/holidays. Position must be filled by an individual with a documented disability.
The Food Service worker will perform janitorial tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning tables and floors, emptying trash, washing dishes( experience in scullery/dish/pot-pan room) busing tables, setting tables, and assisting with food service on the line. Worker will provide timely service while providing excellent customer service.
Prior food service experience working in a dish scullery and pot and pan room, serving food to patrons in a timely manner, cleaning tables, vacuuming, and performing general overall cleaning. Successful applicant will be a team player that is flexible in performing various tasks and taking instruction from several supervisors. Candidate must have a pleasant demeanor and will be expected to greet patrons with the highest level of customer service. Qualified applicants must have the physical stamina to bend, lift up to 50 pounds, and stand for prolonged periods (at least three continuous hours per work shift, while performing tasks such as sweeping/mopping floors, taking out trash, assisting with assembling food for serving line, and cleaning dining/kitchen areas. Must have vision and physical capability to safely operate kitchen equipment. Must be able to operate (with training) commercial dish and pot washing machines. Must be available to work a flexible work schedule, 22-27 hours per week, 5:30 am- 1:30 pm week days; 7:30 am- 1:30 pm on weekends/ holidays, and be able to work a rotating shift to include weekends and holidays. Must be well groomed, punctual, have reliable transportation, and will be required to follow Supervisor instructions. Must be able to read, write, and understand English. Pre-employment drug testing and clearance through criminal /security background investigation for access to military installation is required.
