Thank you to those who contributed to our Building the Future Together Campaign!

Total Campaign $2.7 Million
$1.5 Million Residential Services Expansion
$1.2 Million Brain Injury Services & Warrior Bridge

Despite the Americans with Disabilities Act nearly 40 years ago, adults with disabilities are less likely to enjoy life’s basic experiences, like a having a job, securing housing, the ease of transportation, and being active members in their community.

Together we are building the future for our neighbors in Hampton Roads.

Brain Injury Survivors and Veterans

Special populations, like Veterans with disabilities and brain injury survivors face additional challenges that often lead to homelessness, addiction, and sadly, even suicide. In fact, hundreds of people in our region leave the military and go undiagnosed with a disability.

Craig Lyons is a retired U.S. Navy Chief. He suffered a traumatic brain injury in a motorcycle incident. Craig found hope and connection through Eggleston’s clubhouse model program Beacon House. In South Hampton Roads alone, 40,000 people are living with a brain injury and Eggleston operates the only vocational-rehabilitation clubhouse program in the region.

Inclusive, Affordable Living

Majority of people with disabilities are cared for by a family in Virginia. Many of those caregivers are over age 60, begging the question, who will care their loved one when they’re gone?

Dennis Wance retired as a Lieutenant Colonel for the U.S. Army . He and his wife Pat are the primary care givers for their daughter Kelly, who got connected with Eggleston nearly 22 years ago. Like many though, Dennis and Patricia are at a stage of life where their primary concern is where Kelly is going to live and who will support her when they can no longer can.
