Eggleston honors and pays tribute to America’s sons and daughters who laid down their lives for the freedom of our country. Memorial Day is an American holiday, observed on the last Monday of May, honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971.
In honoring their service and sacrifice, we also think of the mothers and fathers, husbands and wives, sons and daughters that make up the Gold Star families to whom we owe a debt that can never be repaid. Our thoughts and our prayers go out to all of them.
Memorial Day can be difficult for those who have lost a loved one, but it is also a day of hope. The spirit of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice lives on and should never be forgotten. As we remember this, we must each take a moment to reflect on our individual roles and responsibilities in sustaining their legacy for generations to come.
