Facilities Laundry Mechanic- Laundry-Full Time-Norfolk- Enjoy a rewarding and challenging position with a nonprofit organization that has been helping educate, train and provide employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities since 1955. We are currently seeking applicants for a Laundry Mechanic to work full time in the Ingleside Laundry in Norfolk. Must be available to work the evening shift Monday thru Friday 2:30pm-11:00pm with the ability to work Saturdays, Sundays and holidays as required.
The Laundry Mechanic is responsible for keeping laundry equipment and facility in optimal operating condition.
Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED with experience and knowledge preferred in commercial laundry equipment, electrical, mechanical systems and service. Knowledge of electronic control systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics a plus. Qualified applicant must have the ability to assist facilities maintenance techs with maintenance duties such as building maintenance, electrical and HVAC duties. Must be able to read, write and communicate verbally in English. Be able to interpret service manuals and schematics. Perform math functions and equations at high school grade level. Must be able to utilize Microsoft Office applications. Work is performed in an industrial setting. Must be able to tolerate a work environment that is prone to high and low temperature fluctuations, dust, dirt, lint, industrial fluids; be able to lift 50 pounds and be able to stand the majority of the shift, bending, climbing and all other motions and positions necessary to perform maintenance and repairs . Pre-Employment drug testing and clearance through a criminal background investigation required. Current DMV record must be submitted to be considered.
